This is what I'm dealing with...

...Harper not taking a nap. This is not the best video- it's me using this new Flip video on Harper's baby monitor video in her room, or actually Bennett's soon to be room. I put her down at 1:30 and it is now 2:50 and she is jumping, playing, screaming, talking- supposed to be taking a nap. My once sweet Harper that went down for naps so easily has now started being defiant during nap time. This has been going on for a week or so now and it's driving me crazy. I'm beginning to fear that my almost 2 year old is ready to give up naps and I'm expecting to get at least another year out of her as far as naps go. Ainsley still takes a nap almost every day and she's 4! I hate to leave her up there for over an hour but right now I just refuse to give into her because I need some down time but I can't relax because I hear the constant jumping and yelling! Not to mention this crib has been through 4 kids now (my sister's 2 boys) and we'd like to have it for Bennett but I think she might brake the thing! Help me!!

Wait...I think she may have finally fallen asleep, she's probably worn out from all the jumping. That poor crib.

  1. Andrew did the same thing for a few weeks right around the time he turned two. Really freaked me out b/c I was about to give birth. I was just consistent and he eventually started napping again. He just turned three and naps for at least 90 minutes each day.

  2. oh no!! I hope she starts napping again for you, you need down-time! I just love those monitors, it is so fun to see what they do when they can't see you watching :) Best Luck Adrienne!

  4. Caleb gave up his afternoon naps at 2. He is now 4 and I still insist that he has a rest time in the afternoon (usually for an hour)! Just like you, I need some time to myself! He usually looks at books or plays quietly with some toys in his room. He doesn't seem to mind too much - in fact sometimes I will come and get him and he says he needs more time by himself!

  5. My son did the same thing, and I just changed his sleep schedule around and it really helped things, and made my life alot easier, I would get him up earlier in the morning and put him down for his nap a little bit earlier, and it worked out great. Good luck with the naptime, my son is 3 and he will know tell me Mommy I am grumpy I need to take a nap. God bless have a great night,

  6. Sounds EXACTLY like Siena. She does the same thing and it drives me crazy!!! Then, when I give up and think she's not going to nap...I go out and run errands, and what does she do? Falls asleep in the Jeep, of course! Motherhood drives me wacky! :)

  7. Siena does the same exact thing! I refuse to give in for awhile because I'm trying to let her know who's boss. Well, apparently, she is because after awhile, I've had it and I give in. So I figure she's not going to nap, so I go out and run errands. What does Siena do? Fall asleep in the Jeep, of course! Motherhood drives me wacky! :) I hope she gets back into her routine...for your sake!!!
