14 Hours To Go And This Is What I'm Looking Forward To...

...My little boy's smile each and every day after this is all over. Please ignore my cheesy baby voice, I think I was just so excited he actually smiled while I was taping him. I've been trying for a while because he does it when I don't tape him but won't when I do so finally! And it's a good one! I love you so much Bennett!!

Well we're here in Philadelphia. The preop appointment went well. They did tell us that there was a chance they were going to have to reschedule the surgery due to many women going into labor with babies that would need immediate heart surgery and needed the specific surgeon we requested (told you he was the best, everyone wants him!) However, they came back in with good news and said we were still on for tomorrow morning. 6:00 am is check in and the surgery should take about 4 hours (that's with anesthesia, surgery and waking up from it) So once we turn him over to the operating room we should be able to see him 4 hours from that point. I tear up just thinking about giving him over but I know it's going to be okay.

We are specifically praying for a smooth operation with no surprises, no complications and quick healing and recovery for Bennett. And of course for God to guide the surgeons hands and to fix Bennett's heart perfectly. We hope you'll join us in these prayer requests. We want to thank everyone for being so supportive during this time and we appreciate all the prayers our family has received.

I will try to update the blog through out the day tomorrow as we get updates during his surgery. Thanks again for all your prayers!!

  3. Aww... I love the video. He really is soooo cute. That adorable smile reminds me alot of Siena. I teared up watching it and reading your post. Guess it brought me back to Siena's surgery...but they are good tears. I couldn't believe how quickly she recovered. You'll see what I mean. Within 24 hours, he will start getting back to the Bennett you know...just new and improved...a stronger, better functioning heart! :) We will be thinking and praying for you guys. We know the uncertainty and fear you are probably feeling now. Bennett WILL do great. He is very strong and looks super healthy! Great things prior to surgery. Well, I feel like I have alot to say but can't think of anything! You can count on our prayers and positive thoughts tomorrow! Try to get some rest. Tomorrow will be a draining day for you. Good luck Bennett....from your sister in AV canal surgery....Siena

  5. B's surgery was postponed one day b/c of a newborn born in the middle of the night who really needed surgery.

I'll be praying for you and checking for updates!! :)

I think the hardest two parts of B's surgery were the blood draws before and after surgery and not seeing his smile for a few days.

  8. Our prayers are with you. I will be checking for updates...assuming you have access to a computer. I leave you with one more verse from God's word...

    Psalm 91:1-2

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in Him I will trust.

  13. I will be praying for you all tomorrow and especially for peace for you...handing Addie over was very hard, but feeling the peace throughout surgery was such a good feeling, knowing that God was there...make sure to take something that will keep you occupied for the time Bennett's in surgery...and I agree..the video is too cute!
