Important Doctor Appointment Tomorrow!

I know, two posts in one day but I wasn't planning on posting two until I saw the story of Patrick and felt it needed to be shared. Anyways, tomorrow we will be meeting with the Pediatric Cardiologist at 1:00 pm for an ultrasound to assess Bennett's heart defect. Up until now all we've known is that he has a heart defect but the Perientologist was not sure what type because his heart was still very small (18 weeks). Now I am almost 24 weeks so the doctors should be able to see his heart better and give us a diagnosis. That is what I'm assuming. So I'm asking that you all will please pray for us tomorrow and Bennett. For the past couple of weeks when we say our nighttime prayer with Ainsley she has been asking God to heal baby Bennett's heart. That's what we want of course for it to be totally healed but I know that it may not happen. So just pray that whatever this defect is that it is not too large to correct with surgery and if possible that it may not require surgery at all. I'm asking that you also pray if they do look at the rest of him that nothing else is found on the ultrasound as far as problems go. Ultrasounds are not fun for me anymore. I'm so afraid they may find something else that I cannot even enjoy looking at my little baby. I know I just need to have faith and know that Bennett is in God's hands and that God can do wonderful things. I will let you know what we find out after our appointment!

  1. Aww praying for his little heart. These are all the reasons I'm not sure if I would have wanted to know about the diagnosis before. BUT ... at least you have the benefit of having the info so everyone is prepared when he makes his grand entrance into the world!

  4. We will be praying for little Bennett and for Mommy...yes...God is a miracle worker. I can remember dreading my ultrasounds after finding out the diagnosis...but I just trusted in the Lord and knew that whatever was going to come our way...he would be there to help us through. We too had the full fetal echo...we were fortunate to find out that Brayden didn't have any heart defects...but it is amazing what the doctors can do if they do find something...just stay positive as you are and you all will be just fine. I know it is easier now that I am on the other side of things...but the uneasiness that you feel...I once felt too and I so understand all of your emotions. You are being as strong as you can be...but you are human and you do have to let out your worries too. I will be thinking about you...

  5. I am definitely praying for Bennett & for you, your husband and your girls that you get good news at your ultrasound appt & appt w/ the pediatric cardiologist! I will also pray that if Bennett does need surgery that he will have amazing doctors, nurses, and care! It can be scary but at least with Whitney, it has literally made all the difference in the world since she had her open heart surgery and had a chance to recover (it took about 6 weeks or so to really notice the difference and we are finally there!) I am so happy you started blogging and that you are able to "know" so many people who are going through some of the same things you will be going through/are going through. We are all here for you!!!

  7. We will be keeping you guys in our prayers tomorrow for a good appointment and for Bennett's heart to be healed.

I hear you about ultrasounds loosing their appeal.

With my third pregnancy I'm actually looking forward to as few ultrasounds as possible. After having had seven during my pregnancy with Charlie, I can say in all honestly they are way overrated. Nothing like visiting a dark room every few weeks to lie there while they look just one more time for "something wrong" with your baby.

    Big hugs to you!

  8. I will continue to keep you in my prayers. I know US can't be fun for you by now, but know that it will just prepare the docs when this precious baby arrives so they can have the best possible care ready to take wonderful care of him!
A verse that helps me to get through stuff like this is from Phillipeans...do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, with prayer and petition, present your requests to God and the peace that transends understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus...

  10. We're praying!! I feel compelled to tell you, though, that Benjamin's open-heart surgery (when he was 5.5 months old) was honestly not a big deal. He had wonderful doctors and nurses (we were at Vanderbilt in Nashville), and we were home in slightly over a week. So while I pray that Bennett is just fine, please know that it will not be the end of the world if he does need surgery. There are lots of us heart mommas who are here for you!!! :)
