Ahhhh!

I think I can now finally say that! I think we survived the swine flu and I can now let a little air out as this winter was going to be extremely stressful trying to avoid it. Now that we've had it I'm hoping the worst is over. It's been a long week or so with all of us sick and numerous trips to the doctor's office but I think the end is in sight for those trips.

Ainsley is now allowed to hold her baby brother again!

Today we took Bennett in for his 5 month "well" visit and his first RSV shot. Surprisingly he gained weight after being sick but the doctor did hear that there was mucous build up in his chest so we will do nebulizer treatments for the next 5 days to try and break that up. He is breathing normal so unless that changes or he gets a fever again she thinks he will be fine. The RSV shot was a doozy though-he never cries really when he gets shots but this one goes right into the muscle and the poor baby was crying for 10 minutes! But it's worth it to me and he's fine now.

Here he is taking his nebulizer treatment, just smilin' away. Seriously, I can't get enough of this kid!

I am on a slew of medications as well but I'm starting to feel better and get my voice back. It's so true that mom's just don't get sick days. That's just part of life with kids I guess.

But the best part of all of this is that I can finally kiss and hug all of my children!! I was avoiding Ainsley and Harper like the plague when they first came down with it to try to keep myself and Bennett healthy but of course still needing to care for them and then when Mike and I got it we wore masks and didn't want to get any closer to Bennett than we had to other than feeding him and then he got it anyway!
So now we can all hug and be close and just be a loving family again-LOL. Good grief trying to keep a family of five some what healthy this fall/winter is already proving to be quite a challenge!!
Mike will be going out of town for 4 days~oh joy! As long as we're healthy I think I can manage, hopefully.

Cuddling with all my kiddos is just....ahhhh!:)

  1. Okay. So, I just realized I have missed many of your posts. I can't figure that out. Not sure if I didn't get the updated notice or what. Hmmm. Anyway, sorry to hear you were all sick. I read up on the previous posts as well. Wow! I would have been freaked out too. This whole swine flu thing is some scary stuff. I'm happy to hear the Bennett did okay throughout the whole ordeal. Happy the rest of you did okay too.

Loved the Halloween pictures. Very cute!

  4. Yay, Yay, Yay!!! Glad everyone is on the mend. That makes for much easier days for everyone, especially mommy. Love the Dino Mask(that's what we called the nebulizer). I have pics of Clayton doing the same thing. Priceless.

  5. I am so happy to hear that you are all doing well. Trying to avoid getting sick does add a lot of stress. At least now it is all behind you and you won't have to worry about the swine flu for the rest of the winter and holiday season! -Andrea

  6. so glad you are all well! Praise God!!! We continue to pray a hedge of protection over our family..I understand the stress! Parker had his first RSV shot last week too and was the same, cried WAY more than normal shots, but all was well and no ill side effects. SO..surely Bennett is REALLY protected now and swine flu is behind you - YEAH! Try to rest Mom, you have to take care of everyone! HUgs!

  8. I'm so glad everyone is feeling better!! Cuddle time with kids is the best! I hope the 4 days that Mike is away go well and fast! It's hard being a single parent for any amount of time.

  9. It seems that when you have three kids or more, it is hard to impossible to keep everyone well during the winter months. Glad everyone is doing better. Hope the single parent time goes smoothly....I did the single parent thing to two kids for ten months and then again for a month with three kids before our many moves. It is not too difficult.....you are actually short one "kid" so sometimes it is actually easier ;)

  10. So glad ya'll are getting back into your normal routine. I was thinking the same way you were - this is going to be a long winter of me trying not to be too neurotic about getting the flu AGAIN! But, maybe we just got it out of the way before the holidays, etc. Can I just tell that Bennett's chubby cheeks make me grit my teeth? Is that strange? Haha. I just think he is so darn cute! :)

  11. I had a big smile and got all choaked up when I saw your little guy with the nebulizer mask on and a big ole' smile...my little guy gets the nebulizer too and for the most part, he's as happy as can be! It's amazing how resilient kids are...great post!

  12. Just catching up on your blog. Glad to hear that you are all better. Boy it sounded hard trying to keep everyone seperated. We are still very cautious and wear mask as needed. Glad to hear that baby Bennett is okay. What a stress and a scare I bet that was for you. Glad you all can kiss and cuddle now. Blyss hates when I have to seperate her a little from her brother so I am sure the girls didn't like that either.

Thanks for you comments and prayers on my blog, it means a lot to me to have such good support.
