Slightly Flexible?

So the other day I was taking some pictures for my Lil' Sis Designs site and got some rather interesting ones of Bennett...

None of these made it to my shop...ahem.

But yes, my little guy is pretty flexible. He can rock the splits quite easily. Babies are more flexible in general but babies with Down syndrome are super flexible. Which is why most walk later than other children. It's the whole low tone, flexible joint thing. Whatever, it's Bennett and I love him just the same.

Not sure what it was about his legs and feet this day but he was having a good ole' time with them! Maybe is was the new snazzy shorts he had on;) or the fact that his legs have been covered up for the last 4 months.

"Well hello leg, I think I'll give you a big, fat zerbert!"

And he totally did! LOL

And when he wasn't trying to put his feet behind his head {he came pretty close}, he was just being plain silly!

You can be as silly as you want little man, mommy thinks you're pretty fantastic in just about every little thing you do!

  2. Aww!! I just have to tell you that Bennet's picture was one of the first ones I saw when I was dealing with our diagnoses. For some reason he made me feel so much better. I never knew who his mommy was until I stumbled across your blog while playing on someone elses. So glad to find you guys. I'm 7 months in now and don't need to "deal" much anymore but I still love me some sweet little boy pics!!

  6. Too funny!!! JEB sits in his chair, quite often, with his feet behind his head....and he's quite comfortable doing it!! We always laugh at him. He used to do it when he was on a long road trip in the car!! He's super-duper flexible! He has a better split than most cheerleaders I know!! haha

  7. Adorable pics. I have a funny story about splits and DS. We were at a party last summer with other DS families. One mom was sharing how gymnastics has helped her 9 year old daughter with muscle tone and strength when Angelina piped in, "Want to see me do the splits?" Quickly her mom piped in with, "Angelina everybody with Down syndrome can do the splits...that's not a talent." Anyway, Angelina fell down into the splits and all the adults winced in pain as she just sat there as comfy as ever. Eventually she did entertain us with her skills over at the jungle gym. Flips, cats cradle, all the typical 9 year old girl moves. Love your blog and template.

  9. Hi Adrienne, I came across your blog today searching for something else and I absolutely love your stories! My nanny (until I was 4 yo) has a daughter with DS and she was like the older sister I never had! I grew up being very close to her and she came to my wedding last year! You have an amazingly beautiful family and Bennett is not only very flexible, but also super adorable!
