How old is SHE??

Ya'll, I can't tell you how many times I've heard this when people see Bennett!! Really??! Because HE's wearing an airplane on his shirt, dark shorts and little boy shoes! Or... Really??! Because there's a big truck on his onesie, trucks all over his pants and he has a baseball hat around here somewhere. Or one last time... Really??! Because he's wearing a little tie! {Okay, no one ever asked when he was wearing a tie but I thought I'd throw that one in because that's how obvious I feel that Bennett is a boy!} I've also heard: "Oh, how are all these pretty little girls doing?"

Okay, so I realize his hair is a tad bit long but I'm kind
of going for the "shaggy" boy look:

Alright, so maybe not full on Justin Bieber but I think the look is cute so that's what I've been striving for and plus I'm terrified that someone will chop it all off and make him look silly!

So I decided to give him a very small TRIM myself, because I don't want it to get too long and then have people start referring to him as "your sister" to Ainsley or Harper!

Here it is before.

I still like it like this way though...he's just my little love bug!

And here's after! He seems to like it!

I didn't do much back here because he kept jerking and turning and I really didn't feel like taking him to the emergency room from scissor cuts!

Look out Justin Bieber!;)

So what is it? The hair, the long lashes, is he just a "pretty boy". I swear I try to dress him as boyish as I can! Hello, blue collared onesie!

I'm really not that annoyed or offended by it but I do find it interesting that so many people think this or maybe they're just not thinking!

  1. you did a great job w/ his haircut! maybe it is just that he has such beautiful eyes and people see your adorable older girls and assume he is their little sister? (although it is strange given his outfits and obvious "look" of a boy!) i love the funny look on harper's face in the one picture!

  2. I know why....it is because when I just looked at these pics, all I could think of is how SERIOUSLY beautiful this little boy is!!! His face is just angelic and that must be why no one even notices the clothing he/she has on :) I was just telling someone today how I could have Ella all dressed in pink when she was a baby and I would still have people ask me if it was a boy or girl.

  3. he is SO handsome! If it makes you feel better, our early intervention service coordinator thought Chase (dressed all in blue) was a girl the whole first half hour of our initial meeting....despite paperwork saying otherwise! It is sometimes so hard to believe....lol.

  4. I just think it's ignorant people (sorry if that's harsh). I got that ALOT with my oldest....it drove me crazy. He was dressed totally boyish, and I would get the girl references allllllll the time. Seriously, who dresses their girl with trucks and boy stuff (other than Angelina Jolie)??? Nope, not bitter at all! LOL!

  5. I think people are just oblivious. I have Sweet Pea in head to toe pink and she still gets called he!

    I like the haircut though!

  6. I got the same thing with Piper, wearing all PINK - "what a handsome little guy" etc. I'm trying to grow out Max's hair for a more shaggy boy look, too. Maybe I shouldn't :)

  7. Bennett is such a doll -- he is seriously too cute for words!
People don't think before they speak. Charlie was bald as bald can be -- AND dressed like a boy, and people still asked if he was girl or boy. You really can't win.

  8. Cause he's beautiful, that's why they think he's a girl. :) Just wondering, does it happen more when they are color coordinated or in outfits with matching fabric? Not that it makes him look like a girl, they may just be glancing at the material. :)

  9. He is so handsome, love the new haircut!
Both our kids have been referred to as the opposite sex, I don't think people really pay attention before they speak.

  10. I often got that comment about my little boy Ethan...he has very big eyes and long eye lashes and was just a "pretty" baby boy...Bennett is the same way, but I would never mistake him for a girl especially since nothing he wears looks at all like girl clothing. But no matter how much blue I put on Ethan as a baby, people would still mistake him for a girl!

  11. Ok #1 Harper ROFL and #2 in the same photo as Harper's hilarity is the little "flip" on Bennett's hair.....which, if that were the only picture anyone ever saw then maybe the slight little curl confuses people, ya know? I mean not everyone can put two and two together (airplane, blue shirt, navy shorts, Nike Airs and......curl/flip....must be a girl!) Otherwise....seriously?! He is full-on puppy dog tails!

  13. I do think it's because he is so beautiful. I always tell moms of boys that it's a complement if he gets called a girl. The new haircut is adorable! I love how his hair sweeps to the side like that, wish Luc's did.

BTW, Lucas gets called a girl all the time too. I had someone ask if he was a girl or boy and he was wearing a blue shirt with cars on it no less.

  14. I think he is adorable with his haircut either way!! And I also think people will say the most annoying things because they don't think before they speak. Maybe it is because he is beautiful that they think he is a girl, but hey boys are beautiful too!!! I have three of them so maybe I am biased. But trust me I have gotten so many annoying comments from eye color to them being twins to gender to smartness to height....the list goes on....and last week when they all got mohawks we received lots and lots of comments (most of them positive but still). You are doing a great job and have really cute kids!

  18. I LOVE Bennett's hair (but then again, I love longer hair on little ones, ya think I'm biased, lol)!! I ALWAYS get that with Elijah & Landon....ok, Landon is tiny, I'll give them that BUT Elijah? Seriously, he is 5 years old!!! I guess it's his curls=) Landon has the flip like Bennett too...LOVE IT!!

Great job mama, on the haircut!!! I gave Landon a little trim around the bang area, and he will soon be due for another!!

  19. bennett is one of the most beautiful babies i've ever laid eyes on! never mind those kind old ladies! :)

p.s. good luck with the haircuts--ben still despises them and it's a wrestling match every time!

  20. OK so I am dying laughing at H, she is soooo funny! I think some people just say the first thing that comes to mind. He def. doesn't look like a girl he is a quite hand some boy...that hair cut brings a tear to my eye *sniff*sniff* where is the baby you had just a couple of months ago? Sweet haircut

  21. I think it's because he is such a cutie! :)
I get upset when people call my daughter a boy. I think people just associate baldness with boys and hair with girls. Which is totally crazy-ha!

  22. Adorable...you could put a bow in his hair and I would think he was a boy...he just has that little boy look...I get how old is he in stores a lot for my DAUGHTER....even with her giant bows and pierced ears....and her mostly pink outs she is always in...people dont think sometimes...

  23. Love the shaggy boy hairdo on Bennett. Nice job on the trim. BTW - He's WAY cuter than that Justin guy! I do the same on my guys... Cut it short then let it grow shaggy. (Check out my mid-haircut pic http://walkonthehappyside.blogspot.com/2010/07/half-of-hair-cut.html) LOL

  24. LOVE his new hair cut. I never once thought he looked girly, maybe people are so busy looking at Ainsley they just sort of skim by the cute baby boy. But I love the do, good job mama!

  25. Love the new do! So sweet. Way better than Bieber. :) And yes, people just don't think. My daughter was an obvious girl to me, like a porcelain doll, but people asked quite often about how old HE was or said something about HE is such a cute little BOY. Ugh. Peyton's gotten it a few times too. Bennett has that tall, dark, and handsome look going for him already as a baby. So maybe he is a "pretty boy" but a fine looking one at that. :)
