Let Go, Let God.

I know I've asked this several times now but all you prayer warriors out there, we need you now. My dad will be having his surgery on Saturday to once again, remove more melanoma from his head. It has been rescheduled several times and most recently because one of the surgeons took a closer look at his MRI from a couple of weeks ago and felt it was a little more involved. The tumor is very close to his skull and we are PRAYING it is not attached to it. A neurosurgeon will be on call in case they find that it is but we really need that to not be the case.

I've only collapsed to my knees before God twice in my life but last night was the third time. Just begging Him to please heal my dad. To please let this have a positive outcome. To please guide these surgeons. To please keep this cancer from spreading. To please let me have many, many more years with my dad. We've been through a lot as a family these last 2 years or so and we desperately need this to be okay.

I'm sure many of you have been where I am now, feeling desperate and wanting to do something but knowing you're not able. I'm trying so hard to not let the girls see me get upset and keeping myself busy so I don't go down that road of fear.

I don't know what lies before us with all of this but what I do know is that God does. He knows and like my mom has told me, this isn't a surprise to God so I've got to trust that whatever happens, it's in God's hands and His ways are always better than ours.

Let Go, Let God.

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."-
Joshua 1:9

  1. Oh Adrienne, I'm in tears for you. Thank you for calling out to us! I will be praying for your family as I run Hood to Coast (a relay in Oregon) this weekend. I'll be running my final leg on Saturday morning, so I will be relying on God heavily to get me through it and will be praying for healing for your Dad.
    In His name,

  9. Dearest Adrienne, we followed your lead and fell to our knees tonight, not for the first, second, or third time, but yet AGAIN, to pray for our beloved Bob. We have to relinquish him to God's perfect will, but we can "pray without ceasing" and be persistent in our requests for healing and for the "peace that passes understanding"! Love you, Mom

  12. I read this and have been praying, and every time I pray this verse comes to mind so I thought I would share it with you.

The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing. Zepheniah 3:17

Praying that the Lord shows you His mighty salvation from the melanoma and quiets you as you wait on the results. :)

  17. Adrienne this post has me in tears..the hardest part I think of growing older is wathcing your parents get sick, and you having no control. You are right though, God is in control. Keep your prayers flowing (we will do the same over here) and your spirits high. Your family will get through this and be even stronger because of it.
Thoughts and many prayers to you...

  22. saying prayers for your dad - and in case you need anything down the road regarding a type of medicine for melanoma (i hope and pray that you do not) something caught my attn. on the news segment of the today show this morning - they mentioned an experimental treatment for patients with melanoma called plx4032 that has shown success in 80% of patients in shrinking tumors (i think that is the statistic they cited) --- our neighbors across the street are going through this with the husband's father right now and that is why it caught my attn. thinking of you and saying some prayers!!!!
