3 Recipes you HAVE to try!

Okay, I always have to chuckle a little when I share recipes because you know, I'm such a great cook and all;) But these are not real meals, just yummy recipes that even I can make and I just had to share them!

The first is this Monkey Bread:

I got this recipe from my friend Amy in the mom's group I'm in-This makes a yummy breakfast!

Monkey Bread:
Ingredients
3 (10 ounce) packages refrigerated biscuit dough
3/4 cup white sugar
3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
1/2 cup margarine
3/4 cup white sugar

Directions
Mix together 3/4 cup sugar and cinnamon.
Quarter the biscuits with kitchen shears. Dip shears in water after each cut to keep the biscuits from getting too sticky. Dip biscuits into sugar mixture, and place in a greased tube pan. Do this until all biscuits are used.
Melt butter or margarine, and mix in 3/4 cup sugar. Pour mixture over biscuits.
Bake in a preheated 350 degree F (175 degrees C) oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
Enjoy!!

The next one is from my friend Paige and these are seriously so good!!!! And easy! Both the monkey bread and these muffin cookies are great to make with your kids! Oh and Paige has lots of yummy looking recipes on her blog-notice I said looking because I've only tried these cookies and they're the best! Not to mention the dough before you put them in the oven:)

Chocolate Chip Blondies:
Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter

1 cup packed light brown sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup milk chocolate chips

3/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375°F. Mist a 12-cup muffin tin with nonstick cooking spray or line with paper muffin cups. In a small bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt; stir with a fork to combine.
Melt butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in brown sugar. Let cool slightly, then stir in egg and vanilla until smooth. Stir in flour mixture, then chocolate chips and nuts, if using.
Portion out a little less than 1/4 cup batter into each muffin cup and smooth tops with a small spatula. Bake until just set, 15 to 17 minutes. Let blondies cool completely before removing from pan.

Now, I don't have a picture of this last one because it was gone before I could even take a picture!! If you like crab dip and even if you don't, I bet you'll like this one. This is from my mom's good friend Merlyn (thanks Merlyn!) and she always brings it over when she visits my parents and everyone goes crazy over it. So I decided to serve it at Bennett's birthday party (Mike made it at the last minute!) and everyone loved it! I wanted to try to make it myself and it really was pretty easy- You have to try it!

Oven Baked Crab Dip
2-8oz pkgs. cream cheese, softened
1/3 Cup mayonnaise
1 T powdered sugar
1 T white wine
1/2 tsp. onion juice
1/2 tsp. prepared mustard
1/3 tsp. garlic salt
dash lemon juice
1 tsp. Old Bay
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Parmesan Cheese
1 lb. jumbo lump crap meat, washed carefully so as not to break up anymore than necessary
Mix softened cream cheese and whip slightly with mixer.
Add mayonnaise, sugar, wine, onion juice (you can take a little bit of onion and puree it to make it mushy), prepared mustard, garlic salt and lemon juice and mix very well to distribute all ingredients.
Fold in Old Bay & Worcestershire and then gently fold in lump crap meat.
Mix in about 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese.
Pour into slightly Pam-sprayed baking dish.
Sprinkle a topping of Parmesan cheese.
Bake at 375 oven for about 30 minutes or until it will be warm in center when tested with small spoon.
So it seems involved (it's really not) and the ingredients are kind of strange but it really is the best crab dip I've had. I wasn't sure what to do about the onion juice so I left it out and it tasted fine (I later asked Merlyn about it and she said to just take a little and puree it).

Let me know if you try these!- oh and sorry my font is all over the place-copying and pasting the recipes messes everything up!

  5. I grabbed all three. They sound yummy. This may be a strange question but what is Old Bay? It's in the baked crab dip.

  6. Stephanie, Old Bay is a powder seasoning you can find in the spices section of your grocery.
    YUM
Totally LOVE monkey bread and can't wait to try this recipe...it looks so much easier with the biscuits store-bought, right? (fer-git the rolling-out-the-dough bit already)
    Thanks for the good recipes!!
