So my mom asked me what she should get Bennett for his birthday and I told her I wanted an activity table for him to work on (hopefully) standing. Bennett has never really wanted to bear weight on his legs and the coffee table was too high so I thought an activity table would entice him to want to actually get to the toys and sure enough, with help, he's finally putting weight on this chubby little thighs!
His hot pink hip helpers really work to keep his legs straight up and down so he doesn't go into the split position. I know, he's a boy but the next size up that we have is too big-they are black though so we're getting better with the color:) Boys can wear pink sometimes can't they?;)
Can I just add that trying to support 20 pounds while he practices his standing is a workout for mama too! My arms are sore after we work on this! I'm just glad he's not lifting his feet up like he used to so it's slow and steady progress but it's still progress!!
Good job bub!
Great job Bennett.........only real men (boys) can rock pink pants! LOVE THEM:) This is such a relatable post, Adrienne.....Landon didn't want to bear weigh on his legs either......the activity table is such a blessing!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd 20lbs??? Way to go Bennett!! Can you give Landon any tips?! LOL
Woohoo! Way to go! And the pink? I love them! Besides, it's probably just preparing Ainsley and Harper for their roles as big sisters- I'm sure it won't be the last time he'll be wearing girly things!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the work out! I think I get just as much exercise when Piper's doing some of her stuff. My husband thought I was crazy until I made HIM do the stairs a few times with her!
Way to go Bennett! And great job strong mama!
ReplyDeletehaha, too cute! M started out with blue hot pants, progressed to red and is now in the black ones. Ours are borrowed from our local PT so we can't complain about the color. Too bad we don't live closer, we could swap. haha Looks like he loves his little table!
ReplyDeleteBennett you definitely pull off the hot pink hip helpers well! Glad to see you vertical buddy!
ReplyDeleteHe looks like he is doing so good weight bearing! And as everyone else has said, Bennett can definitely pull of pink, no doubt!
ReplyDeleteI just recently found your blog! What an amazing testimony your family has. I was moved to tears many times while reading your story. I look forward to reading more about your sweet family.
ReplyDeleteBennett is adorable even in the pink pants! :)

ReplyDeleteonly real men wear pink :)
ReplyDeleteWoot Bennett!! I love the pink pants. They are very handsome.
ReplyDeleteBennett totally pulls off the hot pink hip huggers (is that what they are called?)look! love that he is bearing weight on his legs... i am sure he just loves his new activity table :)
ReplyDeletei just found your blog and am really enjoying reading it! i am a bit behind you (my daughter is 4 months) in the journey of raising a child with down syndrome, but i really relate with your perspective! bennett is such a cutie! love the pics!
ReplyDeleteHe matches Sweet Pea in those pants! She is rocking them right now! I love how they have helped her to be willing to put weight on her legs and we too love our activity table.
ReplyDeleteSheridan LOVES that table... he has another one, too. Kinda crazy with two musical tables going at once, but he LOVES it! And now he pushes them (walking) all over the house. Just wait!
ReplyDeleteMagdalena does not like to bear weight on her legs either. I've been putting her in a jumperoo to get her used to having her legs straight and her feet on the ground. I have an activity table but I haven't tried it with the hip helpers - great idea!
