Child Proofing In Our Future?

Perhaps one of the good things about having a baby with Down syndrome {I say one because there really are a lot more;)} is that since it takes them a little longer to do things, you don't have to worry about them getting into stuff, as quickly as other children and you kinda get used to that. Like, I can plop Bennett down on the floor and unless he decides to have a rolling fest, I'm pretty sure he'll be in the same general area if I step away for just a minute.

Well, now that he can sit himself up, things that used to be out of reach while laying down are suddenly at perfect trouble making height....

Obviously I caught him before he decided to try this new thing out. He was just staring at it and you could tell he really wanted to touch it. And just look at this little face...

Pure trouble.

"You just wait mommy, remember...I'm a little boy and little boys are very curious!"

{for the record I have no idea what is all over his onesie- we're working on self-feeding if that tells you anything and I think more food gets on his clothes than in his mouth;)}

  1. Can you love a child that you don't know? I have been reading your blog for a while, and I just want to squeeze him. He is so precious, but then again, so are his sisters.

    We went to Disney World recently with our 3 children, and I wanted to read your tips before we left, but they weren't posted until we got back. I agreed with ALL of them though!

    Thank you, Bennett, for making me smile every morning! You go show your momma what a boy is all about!
    ...and while she is child proofing those outlets, she may as well get the cabinets and door knobs because you sure look determined, buddy! ☺

  3. Watch out! My son is 17 months and is into everything. It's crazy how fast they get and how much trouble they get into it. My daughter was never like this. I enjoy reading about Bennett - he is a cutie for sure!

  5. I love the troublemaking look on his face :) Whitney has a shirt that says "looking for trouble" and it didn't seem to suit anne (we had it for her first) but it sure seems to fit whitney to a tee!!! looks like you have some babyproofing in your future! love the look of pure happiness on Bennett's face about sitting up and the thought that he can "look for trouble"

  7. yes, boys are quite different than girls...always heard it but after three girls now WIliam, I am on my toes much more with him. When he was small I walked into the living room for literally a minute only to return to the kitchen and see my baby standing AND dancing on the table YIKES!!! watch out the fun is coming ;)

  9. I have to laugh at this post! I remember the feeling. Thinking wow... my girls would have been into everything by now. Justin would just lay happily in one spot. Ummm... not so much anymore! Cute pics!

  13. Thanks so much for leaving me a comment! I love making new connections in the bloggin' DS community. Bennett's eyes melt my heart! What a handsome lil' devil you get to spend your days with!

    The baby proofing thing is slowly happening around our house as well. Porter is devastated that we're locking off the cupboards to him.
